On-Site Cutting & Decommissioning Support
Robinson Metals provides on-site oxy cutting and dismantling services to reduce the size of redundant assets for transport, recycling or decommissioning purposes. Cutting crews operate within client hot work permit systems and comply with site safety controls including isolations, lock-out procedures, spotters, lifting coordination and mobile plant interactions.
Scope Of Work
Cutting and decommissioning support includes downsizing, segregation and dismantling of fixed plant, process equipment, tanks, piping, structural steel, non-ferrous materials and mobile fleet components. These works are typically associated with shutdown, maintenance, decommissioning, mine closure and asset retirement activities.
Execution & Controls
Cutting operations are completed under hot work permit conditions and supervised in accordance with mine site safety procedures. Crews are experienced working around mobile plant, confined spaces, overhead hazards, fuel/oil contamination and high-temperature materials. Spotters and supervision are deployed as required to manage hazards and maintain permit compliance.
Segregation & Preparation
Material is segregated to improve downstream recycling yields and to separate non-ferrous grades from ferrous streams. Non-ferrous items such as copper, aluminium and stainless are segregated into dedicated bins or load plans to maximise commercial recovery and support environmental reporting.
Interface with Decommisioning Programs
Cutting and dismantling activities often support wider decommissioning programs. Robinson Metals can integrate into mine closure, shutdown or asset retirement plans and coordinate with client maintenance, HSE, production and project teams to ensure that dismantling work fronts align with overall site activities.
Client Outcomes
-
safer downsizing of redundant assets
-
lower landfill disposal cost
-
higher recycling yields
-
improved non-ferrous recovery
-
cleaner hand-over for mine closure
-
reduced stockpile accumulation

Why Robinson Metals
Our cutting capability is embedded within a broader dismantling, logistics and recycling service offering. This enables clients to engage a single contractor for downsizing, removal and recycling rather than coordinating multiple smaller sub-trades or scrap buyers. The result is improved safety oversight, fewer interfaces and simplified project execution.
